Morning Sunlight

My little studio looks out on  playing fields with woods beyond.  The early morning sunlight slanting across the fields has dragged me out many mornings to try to capture it`s elusive effects.  I am pleased with the result and have perhaps stored away some knowledge for future works.
I used water mixable oils on canvas paper, as this was planned more as a study than a finished work.  I do prefer using the oils over acrylic as I find that the acrylic dries so quickly on the palette that I am forever having to re-mix colours.  I started out with thin colour, blocking in the large masses and leaving the brighter parts white. This helped me to asssess the composition and make adjustments.  Then I went over it all with thicker colour, again darks first then the lighter areas.
